Another quiet week… Highlander RC, April 18, 2024April 18, 2024 As you will probably have guessed by the lack of social media updates, I’ve had a bit of a quiet week. I’m not gonna lie, I still feel like shit most days. I’m still not 100%. Pah…I hate being ill… Last weekend Last weekend was considerably quiet on the RC front. We never made it out on the Saturday. I can’t quite remember why. It was either because the weather was shit, or we were all busy doing other things. Now that I come to think of it, that’s also when I posted my last blog. Hmmm, let’s skip forward to Sunday… The following day Ok, so, now we are where we need to be…I think… Sunday was also relatively quiet. As always, a flying visit to Cabin Coffee Aviemore was on the cards for the usual mornings brews. How he’s not sick of us yet, I’ll never know. After loading up on caffeine and hot chocolate, we hit the road again. We decided to have a look along the back road for somewhere new to take the crawlers. The weather, as always, was a mixed bag. Thankfully, where we ended up, we had plenty of tree cover to shelter us from the worst of the wind & rain. A change from the “norm” I’ll be honest with you. When it comes to RC trail driving, I find it a little boring. Not because it’s not enjoyable, but because it’s not as technical. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still good fun, but doesn’t quite engage what little brain cells I have. I prefer the more technical side of crawling, especially when it comes to faffing around on the rougher stuff, like our usual spot. Ironically though, the little spot that we went to, had small metal walkways over some of the quite frankly, nasty, muddy streams. These were a perfect size for the 1:10’s, with mine being able to cross them nicely, and leaving Tacticool with some impressive overhangs due to his having a wider track. I didn’t get to try them too much though, as my oldest son had joined us for the day and did most of the “driving.” Just cruisin’ As mentioned earlier, the terrain wasn’t very taxing for the rigs. From wide open forest tracks, to small stream crossings, it was a very relaxed afternoon out. Sadly, one section we tried to navigate still had a lot of wind blown trees from the winter storms, making it near impossible to get along certain marked paths. Other sections had terrain and greenery that looked like it was straight out of a Jurassic Park movie. Well, I thought it did. Maybe it was just the colours of the vegetation around us. And then there was the stinking bog water. By f**k did it smell awful. Like rotten eggs. It wasn’t until Tacticool decided to disturb it with his Traxxas Bronco that it violated our nostrils. Needless to say, we tried to avoid that at all costs. Yuck. FTX Hi-Rock review I suppose you are all asking when this review will likely drop? Well, I had hoped for that to happen today, but, I am going to have to re-write some of it. “Why is that Kev?” Well, there’s quite a bit of stuff in there that doesn’t need to be in there. I just kinda started writing, and didn’t really think about how it would be to read, if that makes sense. There’s far too much stuff in there, that quite frankly doesn’t need to be there. I will aim to have that done over the weekend, as I feel it may be another quite weekend, what with it being my weekend on, and still feeling like shit. Anywho, that’s it for today’s blog. A bit shorter than usual. As always, please feel free to leave a comment if you have enjoyed this, or even if you haven’t. I know there’s a lot that I need to improve on, and criticism is always helpful. Until next time folks, take it easy! Post Views: 20 Days out Friends of Highlander RC
